Like a literary journey, this article analyses different Arab authors’ visions and experiences of al-Andalus from two perspectives: «recreation» and «reflection». From one side, the recreation of the imagined al-Andalus described by those Arab writers that do not belong to the Mahyar: from «here» three cities are depicted –Córdoba, Seville and Granada, and three of their most highly esteemed figures and/or characters– the «Falcon of the Quraish», Don Quixote and Federico García Lorca. Similarly, there is an analysis of the vision from «there» provided by Arab writers from northern Mayhar. And from the other side, al-Andalus is analysed through reflection; in other words, from a vision of al-Andalus as a model that can be transported to the current day –traversing Arabism, Palestine, the Mediterranean, etc. The author concludes by reflecting on the al-Andalus from «over there», from the New World.
Al-Andalus, mystification, recreation, reflection.
