As with an actor, singer, musician or dancer, a visual artist expresses ideas, feelings and emotions which, first and foremost, are an expression of self and individuality. In this article, the author explains why her work portrays a desire for freedom, the cornerstone of all cultural construction, and how this is vividly experienced in countries such as Algeria, where there is a severe lack of resources for youth emancipation. Moreover, the article highlights the need to formulate tools for reflection and the vindication of fighting for gender equality.
