This article intends to be a very broad glance at the connections between the political dynamics of al-Andalus and its material culture during the centuries ruled by the Umayyad dynasty (emirate and caliphate), the era of the taifa kingdoms and that of the north-African empires of Almoravids and Almohads. It is mainly focused on ceramics as the representative element of the said material culture.
