This article has a double aim. The first is to consider a historiographical review of the major general interpretations circulating around the Arab conquest of the year 711, enumerating various ideological and political aspects that have shaped the integration of this event in different historical discourses. The second is to provide a vision of the conquest according to the available data originating from a wide range of evidence and which has been the focus of detailed studies and analysis in recent years.
