Fernando Amérigo’s contribution analyzes the development and implementation of the agreement signed between the Islamic Commission of Spain and the Spanish State in 1992. The goal is to learn about the impact which this agreement has had and its effect in terms of acknowledging and developing the right to religious freedom of Muslim citizens in Spain. It provides a critical view of the agreement, highlighting those aspects necessary to improve the acknowledgment of these rights, as well as the instruments needed to ensure the legal equality of Muslims with citizens from other religious confessions.
