In contemporary Arab literature and classical Islamic philosophy, the study of contemporary Arab thought has gained impetus from the margins –more out of necessity than dedication–, as a note in the margin or as a footnote. Setting out from this perspective, in the present article we will look to outline a critical approach to the development of studies on contemporary ideologies and political thought in the Arab world within the context of the most recent Spanish Arabism, thereby sketching an account of a field which, due to its interrelationship with others such as literature and political history, has remained subsidiary.
